BATHINDA

 

Bathinda is very lucky to have such a rich religious and cultural heritage, which has no match. It had never been taken to the knowledge of the public. When I.A.T.O. taken deep interest to explore Bathinda specially from religious and historical angle, then we took the opportunity to present the religious and cultural heritage richness of Bathinda. There is number of worth seeing place in and around Bathinda deeply connected with Sikh, Hindu & Muslims religious history likewise.

FORT (Quila Mubarak)

Bathinda has an oldest and highest small brick monuments known as Quila Mubarak, history of which is quite amazing. Raja Binepal, a Bhatti Rajput built it about 1200, years ago. Bala Rao inhabited this city in 965 AD and named this City as Bhatinda after his cast name. This city was also remained the capital of Raja jaipal.

Mohd. Gajnavi captured this Fort in 1045 AD and Mohd. Gauri conquered this Fort in 1190 AD. The first women emperor Razia Sultana was imprisoned here in 1239 AD by then Governor Altunia, she jumped from the Summan Burj and later on died at Sirsa fighting with royal forces.

The 10th Sikh Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji came in this Fort in June, 1705 and through out a Monster KANA DEO and blessed the area with prosperity.

Maharaja Ala Singh of Patiala State captured this Fort in 1754 and named the Fort Gobindgarh, earlier it was called Bikramgarh. The Gurudwara was constructed by Maharaja karam Singh of Patiala on the top of the Fort. This is situated in the heart of the city.

Bahia Fort : Bahia Fort was built in 1930 in front of the main Fort by S. Balwant Singh Sidhu belong to a group of 22 villages, so called Bahia Sahib. It was used as official family residence of armed forces of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala State. Now it has been converted into a Four Star Hotel by BAHIA FAMILY. Maintaining the standard of royalty in culture and in service for last 18 years.

Hazi Rattan : The great Hindu poet named Rattan Chand dared to go to Makka for Hazz and was disowned by the society who was blessed with Moksh by 1st Sikh Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 10th Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji completes the words of 1st Guru. There is Mazzar near the Gurudwara Hazi Rattan.Famous Mela Baba Hazi Rattan Yadgari Sabhyacharak Mela is regular feature in the month of December.
Takhat Damdama Sahib : Talwandi Sabbo is hardly 35 km. from Bathinda city where Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji examined the loyalty of Bhai Dalla. The holly book Guru Granth Sahib Ji was written at this place by Bhai Manni Singh Ji. Guru Ji take Dam (rest) for 9 months 9 days and 9 hours. Guru Ji also blessed this town with education by calling it Guru Ki Kashi. The Punjabi University has now setup a Regional center for M.B.A. and other postgraduate studies. The Old antiques like Gun, Stamp, Sword, a Portrait, a Magic Mirror and blood strained dress of Guru Ji remind the last battle fought by them. Matchbox size Guru Granth Sahib and much more has been kept in Gurudwara and in Bhai Dalla's House.The famous Mela Baisakhi is held on 13th April.The AC Taxi is available @ 10/- per km. amounting to Rs. 700/- approx.

Lakhi Jungle : A forest having old Gurudwara enjoyed the touches of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who recited one LAKH holy Paths of Shri Japuji Sahib. Therefore it was called LAKHI JUNGLE. 10th Guru also visited this place. This is situated 15th km. away from Bathinda and on the way to Mukatsar.

Mukatsar : Mukatsar the city of Gurudwaras is 50 km. away from Bathinda is known as 'Guru Ki Daab'. The place is famous for the last battle fought by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in which the group of 40 warriors helped Guru Ji and died who left them in Anandpur Sahib by writing 'Bedawa'. Guru Ji tore 'Bedawa' at this place on their request and blessed them with 'Mukti' (Mokush). So the place is called 'Mukatsar'.The famous 'Maghi' Mela is held on 'Magh Sakranti' (desi month) which fall in the month of January.
The AC taxi car is available @ 10/- per km amounting to Rs. 1000/-. The Lakhi Jungle can also be visited in this route.
Deena Kangar : Deena Kangar is about 35 km. away from Bathinda, which is famous for a Historical Letter 'Zafarnama' written by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, which becomes the cause of his death in Aurangabad. A beautiful Gurudwara is situated there remembering the historical galore.

Beside this Bathinda city has importance due to some unmatchable things like :Asia's biggest Railway junction having 7 lines.

Agriculture University.

The biggest wholesale textile market enjoying the business of 40 Mandies Biggest Industrial Focal Point having A-Class Industrial subsidies of 33%. The Industrial Giants two thermal power stations, National Fertilizers, couple of spinning mills have declared Bathinda as Textile City.

The Refinery worth Rs. 16000 Crore, The Cement plants and Petro-Chemical Industries are forthcoming fortune for the area, which will name it as a Petroleum city.

Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib or Talwandi Sabo : Also known as 'Guru Kashi', Guru Gobind Singh Ji recompiled Guru Granth Sahib here. The fair of Baisakhi of dancing devotees and display of martial art, held here for 2 days of April has been recognised as a national fair.

Maisar Khana : It is famous for its Bhagwati Mandir known for fulfilling wishes. A largely attended religious fair is held here twice a year.

Mazaar of Peer Haji Rattan : Situated between the Civil Hospital and Grain Market. Legend goes that as Ambassador of Raja Bhoj, Baba Haji Rattan visited Mecca and on return to India, he settled in meditation at Bhatinda. The place is hallowed by the visit of Guru nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh.
